Allied

Allied 2016 USA A spy thriller during WWII starring Marion Cotillard, Brad Pitt, directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Steven Knight should be an amazing movie, but it falls short and disappoints. Max Vatan (Brad Pitt) a Canadian air Force officer is teamed up with Marianne Beausejour (Marion Cotillard) a French spy. They soon start to fall in love then after a year together one of them may not be telling the whole truth. The first and third act were entertaining as it set up and concluded the movie. The problem was the second act was very weak. It didn't build up and confrontation and I didn't think the love story worked enough to worry about what would happen to them. Cotillard is amazing as usual, but Pitt seemed to be bored. It does feel like the early to mid 1940s Europe with the locations, costumes and muted colors.
