American Honey

American Honey 2016 USA A road trip movie following late teens, early 20s, going door-to-door selling magazines any way possible just to make enough money to support there hard partying ways. The coolest thing about American Honey is the way it was casted and shot. With a week until filming began director Andrea Arnold did not have an actor to play the lead. While scouting Florida beaches filled with spring breakers, she finally found her lead named Star (Sasha Lane). Except for Shia LaBeouf and Riley Keough (Elvis's granddaughter, who's blowing up) the rest of the cast have never acted before. The casting director found them in strip clubs, panhandling and even selling magazines like their characters. The whole cast and crew traveled on a road trip together for 60 days and Arnold kept the camera running. This resulted in a really authentic movie which also has a very good soundtrack. Another great movie from A24, the best independent film company out there. A preview for a post coming up next week.
