Christine
Christine 2016 Around Oscar-season I heard about this movie, mainly about Rebecca Hall's performance. If I saw this a few months ago when it came out, I would have been lobbying for her to win an Oscar. The movie is so-so, but Hall is fantastic and totally transforms into the character. Based on a true story that I had no idea existed. Christine Chubbuck (Hall) is a reporter at a local TV station in Florida. She's probably the smartest person in the room, but lack of recognition and struggles to advance at work, along with antisocial tendencies cause her to crack. I'm not going to say what happened at the end, because it was a total shocker to me, and even more of a shock that it really happened. Hall, who's a relatively known actress, becomes lost in the character and you forget that it's her playing the depressed, eccentric, stressed out reporter. Looking at the poster and a few photos, I thought it was going to be a horror movie and it somewhat is. The movie was slowly paced and some scenes were not needed, but it's definitely worth a watch for Hall's performance alone and if you don't already know the story.
