Hell or High Water
Hell or High Water 2016 USA When you rob a bank is it always customary to hoot and hollar while driving away. After writing Sicario (my favorite movie of 2015) Taylor Sheridan hits another out of the park. And his upcoming movie Wind River where he also directs wowed viewers at the Sundance film festival last month. I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing that. Brothers Toby (Chris Pine) Tanner (Ben Foster) go on a bank robbery spree to keep their family's land in Texas. A Texas ranger, Marcus (Jeff Bridges) close to retirement, tries to catch them in one final job. Despite the cliche cop about to retire angle this movie is fantastic. A slow burn, western, bank robbery. Great dialogue paired with action and suspense is why it is my number 2 movie of 2016. Ben Foster is a very underrated actor. He also is known to immerse himself in his roles. He took PEDs when portraying Lance Armstrong and ate handfuls of dirt while shooting Lone Survivor. You have to wonder if he actually robbed banks to prepare for this role. “You know what Comanche means? It means enemies with everyone… Well I guess you know what that makes me, a Comanche.”
