La La Land vs Sing Street

La La Land 2016 USA Sing Street 2016 UK La La Land is a love story between two struggling artists. One is a actress (Emma Stone) the other a jazz musician (Ryan Gosling). The use of music can really elevate a movie but im not a fan of random people joining in knowing the exact lyrics and choreography but that did stop soon after the start. I only enjoyed 30% of this movie, I really liked the floating scene and the original song "City of Stars". The use of color was the real star of the movie. It created amazing shots. No matter if you liked or disliked La La Land you need to check out Sing Street. I feel like if Sing Street was promoted more it would have a few Oscar nominations. In the 1980s Connor (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo), a new kid in school is struggling to fit in creates a band just to get his crush to be the video girl in a music video. It's a fun, coming of age movie with great original songs. The "Drive you like you stole it" sequence, with homage to Back To The Future prom night scene was fantastic. Brendon (Jack Reynor) played the perfect older brother sharing wisdom like “No woman can truly love a man who loves Phil Collins.”
