Live by Night

Live by Night 2016 USA Come on Ben Affleck. I guess that Batman mask cut off the oxygen to his brain because this movie was very bad. Affleck has been on fire writing and directing until this. He wrote/directed Gone Baby Gone and The Town then directed Argo which won the Oscar for best picture. Live by Night is a 1920s gangster film that fails to impress except for one exciting car chase. I kept waiting for a great tommygun action sequence, but it never came. The cast is phenomenal (Sienna Miller, Brendon Gleeson, Elle Fanning, Zoe Saldana, Chris Cooper) but they are underused, especially Miller. There are too many subplots and not enough time dedicated to the important ones. I'm definitely interested in seeing what Afflecks next writing/directing job will be since he apparently doesn't want to be involved in Batman anymore.
