Passengers
Passengers 2016 USA If you were stranded on a desert island and you could wish for somebody else to be there too, would you do it? Even it means they were stuck there too? I finally got around to seeing this movie, it was better than expected after seeing critics not liking it. 5,000 humans on the starship Avalon are headed to colonize a planet named Homestead II. Hibernation chambers are needed since it takes 120 years to get there. Jim (Chris Pratt) and Aurora (Jennifer Lawrence) wake up 90 years too soon. Isolation really sets in plus the spacecraft starts to malfunction. I really like the premise, but it wasn't executed properly to push it from an average to good movie. It didn't pick a lane and jumped from psychological drama to romance to thriller. A fun movie with cool production design but it has flaws. The real question is how much money Andy Garcia was paid for 3 seconds of screen time.
