The Wave, 2015 Norway On his last day before accepting a better job, geologist Kristian (Kristoffer Joner) noticed warning signs on the mountain that overlooks a tourist town and his family's home. If this mountain shifts, (better explained in the movie with terminology like: “plate tectonics” and underwater volcanoes), it could cause a huge tsunami. Spoiler alert: A BIG FUCKING WAVE IS HEADED TOWARDS TOWN. Kristian needs to warn everyone, including his wife and two kids, before it's too late. In a lot of disaster movies (like “San Andreas”), the lead is some type of superhero that can't do anything wrong. In “The Wave”, he's just a regular guy. The action and effects are top notch, holding its own with the big-budget Hollywood productions. If you want to watch a slow burn, disaster movie with a big pay off; I say check this out. Currently on Netflix 7/10
